Heritage North can offer Post Impact Assessments (POSTs) and reports when needed. A POST may be requested in uncommon circumstances such as an existing development not previously assessed requiring a revision or an archaeological site that has been impacted through a Section 12 Alteration Permit (S12).
A POST assessment is completed by a qualified archaeologist. The field visit includes surface inspection of areas with exposed sediments for cultural materials and subsurface testing of terrain features exhibiting archaeological concern. If an archaeological site has been disturbed, the POST must be conducted under a Heritage Inspection Permit. As with the AIA, after the field study has been completed, a report including associated findings is prepared and submitted. Found artifacts are collected and turned over to the designated museum.
